Use the letter provided below to stop Collectors from calling. This is your right It’s the law! Make sure you keep copies of your letter and certified mail receipt for your records. Send this letter out within 30 days of the first contact by the collection company. Even if it is a collection attorney, they are required to follow the same rules and regulations don’t be intimidated by them. Under law, the collection company or attorney is allowed to contact you one time, after receipt of the letter, to notify you or their intent, which should be to stop calling you. Any company trying to collect from you that is not the original creditor is a collection agency. That company is a debt collector and is subject to the law. Send the letter, it's legal and it works!
